In this Viking world, young women train to become Valkyries, and battle magicians, to join the Vikings on their conquests. But for this, the Valkyrie needs a strong slave, a so-called træl, to extract energy from and create magic. Aske, a broken slave, gets bound to Hilda, a Valkyrie in training, and thus begins his life as a træl.
